Marriage…a Husband and a Wife

The definition of Marriage…

mar·riage  noun   1.the social institution under which a man and woman establish their decisionto live as husband and wife by legal commitments, religious ceremonies

Genesis 2: 23-24 says it this way….

The man said, “This is now bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh; and she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.”  That is why a man leaves he father and mother and is united to his wife and they become one flesh

You will notice two key words in both instances:  Man and Woman

When North Carolina passed a marriage amendment on May 8th, special interest groups went bonkers.  And then days later, President Obama “came out” in support of gay marriage.  What the MSM is not telling you is this:  North Carolina is the 31st state to pass such an amendment.

Thirty one states have put same sex marriage up for a vote and constituents in all 31 states voted NO, including California!  But does that mean anything to the corrupt main stream media? Of course not because they are throwing out polls stating that 50% of Americans support gay marriage.  Ummm, someone’s lying.  Thirty one states equal 62% of the country.

So what does Obama think he’ll gain from his support of gay marriage?  Votes, plain and simple.   Hopefully Americans paying attention ~ because he was for gay marriage before he was against it before he was for it.  Whew…that’s worse than the flip flopping Kerry did in 2004.

The bottom line:  marriage was instituted by God…a man and a woman.  He made man in His image to rule over the fish in the sea and the birds of the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground, and then made woman from man so that man would not be alone.  God placed man and woman in the  Garden of Eden to work and take care of the garden.

Does Obama’s support for gay marriage help or hurt him?  Praying here that is hurts him…all the way to the unemployment line.

Retired State Employees TRIPLE Dipping the System!

Yes…T R I P L E dipping.

It was recently discovered that a retired state employee collectedthree checks from the state.

  1. This person was retired and collecting their pension.  That’s one check
  2. This person was re-hired as an annuitant, a temporary job taken while collecting state pension benefits.  That’s two checks.
  3. After the contract ended…the UNEMPLOYMENT kicked in.  That’s three checks.

We have residents of this state who haven’t worked in 2 years, who have run out of unemployment, are working for a lot less than what they were before they lost their job, or have given up looking for work all together ~ and there are retiree’s of the state collecting a pension AND unemployment.  Un..believe…able.  Oh and there’s not just one person doing this, there were 239 of them in 2011!

Check out this article by Melissa Daniels, of the PA Independent and get the details.

The Tax System for Dummies

Having a hard time understanding the our tax system?  This short story by Jim Quinn, talk show host in Pittsburgh, is so simple even your third grader will understand.

How Taxes Work ~ 10 Men Go To Dinner

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for dinner and the bill for all comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing like they do now with the present income tax structure.

The fifth would pay $1.

The sixth would pay $3.

The seventh would pay $7.

The eighth would pay $12.

The ninth would pay $18.

The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59 of the bill.

So that is what the ten men decide to do.

The ten men ate dinner in the restaurant every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. “Since you all are such good customers I am going to reduce the cost of your daily meal by $20″. Dinner for the 10 men now costs just $80…

The group still wanted to pay the bill the same way that they paid their taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still eat for free. But what about the other six men — the Paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everybody would get his “Fair Share”?

They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody’s share, then the fifth and sixth man would each end up being paid to eat their meal…

So, the restaurant owner suggested it would be fair to reduce each mans bill roughly the same amount; and proceeded to work out the amounts each man would pay.

The fifth, like the first four now paid nothing (100% savings).

The sixth man now paid $2 instead of $3 (33% savings)

The seventh man now paid $5 instead of $7 (28% savings)

The eight man now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings)

The ninth man now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings)

The tenth man now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings)

Each of the six was better off then before. And the first four continued to eat for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings…

“I only got a dollar out of the $20,” declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man “but he got $10″…

“Yeah, that’s right,” exclaimed the fifth man. “I only saved a dollar, too. Its unfair that he got ten times more than me!?”

“That’s true”, shouted the seventh man. “Why should he get $10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!”

“Wait a minute,” yelled the first four men in unison. “We didn’t get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!”

The nine men surrounded the tenth man and beat him up…

The next night the Tenth man did not show up for dinner, so the Nine sat down and ate without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn’t have enough money between all of them for even half the bill!

And that Boys & Girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just might not show up anymore. In fact, they might start eating overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier?

After reading this ask yourself….when has a poor person ever created a job?

Money…Burning a Hole in Harrisburg’s Pocket

Seems like all levels of government like to spend other people’s money or money they don’t have.

The PA Senate has approve a budget that totals over $27.6 billion.  That is $517.2 million or 1.9% higher that Gov Corbett’s Budget.  So why the increase?

With higher tax revenue than expected coming in, the deficit estimate of $719 million has been lowered.  So naturally what does Harrisburg want to do?  Spend more money.  Money they don’t have…your money.

Check out the article below by Eric Boehm from The PA Independent

HARRISBURG — Higher-than-anticipated revenue for April leaves Pennsylvania with a smaller deficit heading into the two months when the new state budget will be hashed out.

Though all projections indicate a revenue deficit at the end of the year, the state will be in better shape than Gov. Tom Corbett’s mid-year forecast of $719 million. The slight change of fortune has led to lawmakers calling for increased spending in the proposed fiscal 2012-13 budget, though Corbett urged caution this week.

Tax revenue for April was about $100 million more than projected, according to the state Department of Revenue, leaving tax collections for the year about $290 million short of estimate. The new Independent Fiscal Office projected that the state would be about $300 million in the red when the fiscal year ends.

How We Ended Up at St Clair Park

Bushy Run Battlefield…the venue for our first Tea Party as the “Southwest PA TEA Party” planning committee.  We had no idea what to expect, none.  We planned and prayed hoping that it would be a success.  And to put it mildly, we…were…blown…away!  I remember standing on the black top watching the people come down the hill with one of the other staff.  He put his arm around me and we both had tears in our eyes and he said “if we plan it, they will come”.  I’ll never forget that moment.  Another memorable moment is the first time our friend Michael “Biker Mike” Marincic brought the American Flag in on his Harley.  Yes…Bushy Run holds a lot of memories for us.

Now enter: The Commonwealth of PA and government.  They did not like us being there and even more so they did not like that we were successful.  So what did they do?  The state changed its rental agreement with the TEA Party in the following way:

  • We were not allowed to park more than 500 cars
  • We could not collect donations
  • We could not have signs advertising the event with “Bushy Run” on them
  • No food vendors
  • No signs or posters permitted on their grounds.

We had no other choice but to look for another venue.  We prayed about it and God blessed us with the Airport.

Now that venue came with its problems too:  Location (it is out in the boonies!), the parking fee, and the Life Flight Helicopter taking off during the event.  Parking went from $1.00 up to $3.00 with the insinuation that if we were there again it would go up even more.  None of that money went to the Tea Party.  None of it.  There were disclaimers on all our advertising and a flyer was even handed out at the entrance.  That being said, there were still people upset because they thought that money was going to the Southwest PA TEA Party.  That left us no other choice but to start searching once again for a new venue.

Then, one of our food vendors made the suggestion of St Clair Park.  Right off the bat our biggest concern was… you guessed it…parking.  Darin and Melinda went and checked it out one evening and counted 400 spaces within a block of the park!  And, parking is FREE on the weekend!  We thought ~ this might just work out!  The idea was presented to the committee and we decided YES let’s give it a try.  We filled out our application and BAM!  We had our new venue!

On April 28th, the set up for the event was a breeze!  It usually took us two days to set up for a Tea Party.  Last Saturday it took us about 2 ½ hours!  We didn’t have to rent poo pots because there are REAL restrooms there!  No scaffolding to erect.  No fencing to put up.  The sound system is fantastic.  There are shade trees and even stadium seating down front if you don’t want to bring your lawn chair.

We received a lot of positive feedback on April 28th from the vendors, the volunteers, and those who attended!  So once again, God truly blessed us!

Hopefully this will help you understand why we moved from Bushy Run and the Airport to St Clair Park.

We look forward to seeing you on July 7th for another great event!

God Bless…The Southwest PA TEA Party

Welcome to the new Southwest PA TEA Party Website!

Welcome to our new site!  We hope you’ll come back often and share with your friends.

We would also like to take this moment to say….

THANK YOU to those diehard patriots for attending our first TEA Party of 2012.  It was a cold cold day but that didn’t keep people away.  We had three inspirational and informative speakers:

Jason Pancake ~ on the constitution and “We the People” hold the power

Tom Deweese ~ on Agenda 21

Frank  Gaffney ~ on Islam

The first Tea Party of 2012 also saw us at a new venue:  St Clair Park in Greensburg.  We received a lot of positive feed back in regards to the layout, the sound, the location, plus parking is free in the City of Greensburg during the weekend.  And the most important thing…real restrooms! :)

So mark your calendars for our next event…July 7th at St Clair Park and check back for more details!

Thank-you…The Southwest PA TEA Party
